Depending on your circumstances you may find your first day with us a bit overwhelming. It will be a busy day with lots of paperwork to be completed, along with unpacking and organising your room and finding your way around. So we suggest that a relative or friend accompany you. This ensures you have a familiar support person to assist you. If it is not possible on the first day we recommend someone close to you comes to visit shortly after your arrival.
Our preferred arrival time is 11am. This gives you time to settle in and relax before you enjoy your first lunch with us. You are welcome to have your family representative join you for lunch on this day. The afternoon will give you time to unpack and also for our staff to ask some important questions on which to base our initial care for you.
We recognise that moving into a new home can be unsettling for both you and your loved ones. We will provide all the support you need to adjust to life in our Village. We encourage you to remain involved in as many activities as you can manage just as you did before. We have open visiting hours; we welcome visitors and encourage them to be involved in the Village’s activities and events. We aim for your life in the Village to be as close as possible to how it was up until now.
Photo albums or digital frames, or a compilation of favourite music can be helpful in assisting with emotional support whilst settling into Jacaranda Village.
We provide single rooms all with an ensuite. Your room will be selected for you based on your care requirements and where your safety and lifestyle needs can best be met.
Each room comes with an electronic controlled bed, window coverings, air conditioner and built in wardrobe with drawers. You are welcome to add your personal touch to your room by bringing in additional items of your own furniture and furnishings. We only ask that your choices are discussed and approved with our staff first to ensure these items meet our Occupational Health and Safety requirements and our falls risk minimisation policy.
We are fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who strive to provide you the best possible care and attention. Every staff member takes part in an ongoing education program including annual skill competencies to monitor their performance and is provided training and support where required. Our staff are here to work for you and help you.
