We have two wonderful groups of volunteers who make a very positive contribution to the lifestyle and care we provide our Elders.
The first group is the Friends of Jacaranda Village Committee. Over the years this hardworking group have run various fundraising activities, including the annual Jacaranda Quest, and have raised a staggering $100,000. This has been used to purchase vehicles to take our Elders on social outings, furniture and furnishings and equipment. The Committee meets monthly and is always very happy to welcome new members or to receive offers of help for specific fundraising activities.
If you are interested in supporting the Committee or a Fundraiser please contact us and we will put you in touch with a committee member.
The second group are the Activities Volunteers. An important part of our care and support relates to providing our Elders with a lifestyle that closely mimics the one they lived before moving to the Village. We want to be able to provide a variety of activities they can choose from each day. Our ability to do this is greatly enhanced by the involvement of volunteers.
Our volunteers assist and participate in such activities as:
- walking group
- sewing classes
- painting classes
- church services
- social outings
- games (cards, bingo, scrabble etc)
- singing and musical sessions
We are seeking volunteers to help us with the following activities:
- the Men's Shed
- vegetable gardening
- other craft activities
- arm chair travel sessions
- movie outings
- fishing outings
You may have a particular interest or skill you could share or you may like to just sit and read or chat to an Elder. Even helping with a crossword puzzle can make a difference. The commitment of as little as an hour of your time a week can make a significant difference to the life of our Elders.
Please contact us if you are interested in this rewarding service.
Please note: government regulations require all volunteers to have a current police check, which we can arrange for you.
