Two Big Fundraisers for Jacaranda Village
Following last year's successful event, the Friends of Jacaranda Village Committee organised another Charity Dinner at the Pizza Cafe at the Grand in June. Tickets for the event were sold out well before the night and $3,292 was raised on the evening.
The Friends Committee are very appreciative of the efforts of Pizza Cafe Manager Joseph Carazza for providing the venue and for his generous donation to assist Jacaranda Village. He has also offered the venue for a Charity Dinner in 2015.
The night consisted of a large number of raffles and an auction, which was conducted by Roger Walder of Walder's Real Estate Merbein.
The combined VCAL classes of Red Cliffs Secondary College conducted an in-school fete in June with proceeds of the funds raised largely being donated to Jacaranda Village where a number of VCAL students do community service as part of their VCAL program. Each year level within the school attended the fete for one lesson of their normal class time. Students had spent many hours planning and preparing for the event with catering playing a huge part in the VCAL program this year.
In addition to the food available, students organised a variety of activities on the day with prizes for all events. The event aims to promote a genuine positive image of young people who are going out of their way to give back to their community.
The Friends Committee also thank the many prize and raffle donors.
